Vans Trainers were the brainchild of Paul Van Doren who set up the company back in 1965. Van Doren had a huge experience within the shoe manufacturing industry, having previously worked for one of America’s largest footwear company’s. Sensing the opportunity and profits to be made he set out to not only manufacture his own trainers but also to retail them directly as a company to ensure maximum profit from each product. During the 1970’s Vans Footwear became strongly associated with the emerging skateboard industry which helped propel the company to worldwide success. Vans have a retro and classic styling that is as popular today as it ever has been.
