This impressive Danish brand came into existence in 1923 and is a well-established and exciting player in the world of sports wear today. From stylish, casual every day wear available worldwide to dressing celebrities, Olympic teams and even the Danish royal family Hummel has been there! Here’s a look back over what this diverse, caring company has achieved.

1923 – Hamburg

Following a football match in the pouring rain young shoe maker Albert Messmer developed one of the first football cleats ever. From this Messer & Co was founded.

1946 – The company opens new premises just outside of Hamburg after being completely swept off the map in the bombings of WW2.

1964 – One of the longest ever sporting partnerships begins. Hummel signs a sponsorship deal with German handball club Grun Weiss Dankersen. It is still running today.

1980 – The brand changes hands, becoming 100% Danish.

1984 – Their kit is picked as ‘Most Attractive Tracksuit’ in the European Championships.

1988 – Following a succession of football and handball sponsorship deals, a contract with the mighty Real Madrid is signed.

1992 – The Danish national team wins the European championship wearing Hummel.

1996 – More success for the ‘Hummel teams’ – Danish women’s handball team are crowned Olympic champions in Atlanta

2001 – Hummel’s first fashion range is launched and is set to ride the retro wave to the top of the fashion charts, inspired by their 1970’s tracksuit’s. Robbie Williams, Paris Hilton and J.Lo are among many celebs rocking the Hummel look.

2004 – The Olympic games, Athens. Hummel dress the entire Danish Olympic delegation and The Royal Family. A legendary status as one of the best sporting brands in history is secured.
